[Reporter Fan Jiahao/Peony Report] The Pingtung County Government’s 2020 National Heritage Day “Historical Present” event will be held on September 19th and 20th for two consecutive days. It will lead the public to visit the historical sites in the form of day-reading Peony Club events and sharing sessions , Read local literature and history, and share the rich cultural assets of Ping County’s reconstruction of history.
The Pingtung County Cultural Assets Protection Institute stated that the Ministry of Culture has set the theme of this year’s National Heritage Day as “Heritage Education Action, Reversal and Innovation”. The indoor sharing session and on-site visits to the aboriginal tribes of Mudan Township are free to participate in, allowing the public to have a deeper experience of the historical context of the Mudan Club events and the traditional culture of the aboriginal people.
The Institute of Literature and Resources pointed out that local literature and history scholars Nian Jicheng, Gao Jiaxin, Xu Shenghui and Du Shihao were invited to lead the students to the Shimen Ancient Battlefield and the Peony Society Event Memorial Park to explore the history of the Peony Society incident. It is hoped that through the rich and diverse culture Assets, let people deeply understand the local historical stories.
On the 20th, Mr. Gu Yingyong, a senior local commentator, guided the history of “Peony Society”, and invited Dr. Chen Yaochang, author of the novels “Puppet Flower” and “Lion Head Flower”, to share the process of writing historical novels. And teachers Hong Huiyi, Chen Nan, and Lin Wenyu led the children to learn about the Peony Society event through picture books and hand-made respectively.
In addition, on September 26th and 27th, the Cultural Resources Institute will hold two hand-made DIY courses such as “wooden tenon joint workshop”. The Department of Culture emphasizes that the Pingtung County Government will cooperate with the Ministry of Culture’s National Monuments Day every September to plan different themes to understand local cultural assets, hoping to integrate local creation and sustainable management concepts through activities, so that everyone can cherish “our” culture more assets.
