Traveling South Korea with PXPay Plus in ZeroPay/HIVEX Partnered Merchants to Earn Reward up to 30%

Since launching its service first launched in Japan at the beginning of 2024, PXPay Plus has consistently delivered strong results in transaction volume. According to the latest data, Q4 transaction volume in Japan increased by approximately 9%, compared to Q3, while the number of unique PXPay Plus users grew by 13%. This reflects the rising demand among Taiwanese consumers for cross-border payment services. Such growth not only validates the potential of PXPay Plus in the cross-border payments market but also lays a solid foundation for its next expansion phase: launching its service in South Korea.

Data from Tourism Statistic Database of the Tourism Administration shows that Taiwanese travelers to South Korea have surged since from summer of 2022. In August 2024, the number reached 140,000 marking a 5 years monthly high. South Korea has overtaken Hong Kong as the 3rd largest outbound destination for Taiwanese travelers. Moreover, the South Korea government recently announced to extend the temporary exemption period for K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization), until December 31st of 2025. Meaning that, Taiwanese travelers only need to fill out the custom declaration card when they entered South Korea, and those with valid K-ETA and E-gate (S.e.S) registrations are exempt from this requirement, further boosting travel motivation. PXPay Plus is honored to announce that its cross-border service officially launched in South Korea today, being the first Taiwanese e-wallet brand to do so!

Strong Collaboration Between Multiple Taiwanese & Korean Fintech Companies With Over 1.9 million of Merchants all over South Korea for PXPay Plus Users

PXPay Plus is proud to be the first Taiwanese e-wallet to launch its service in South Korea, achieved through cooperation with HIVEX, a Taiwanese cross-payment platform. This partnership has facilitated connections between PXPay Plus and South Korean payment platforms ZeroPay and ICB Co., Ltd., enabling access to over 1.9 million of merchants all over the country.

ZeroPay, an e-payment system initiated by the South Korean government, started from small vendors scenarios such as those in underground malls, fast food outlet, bakeries…etc. Its purpose is to reduce the merchants discount rates (MDR) for small businesses, lower their operating costs, and promote cashless payments. Despite starting later than other e-payments, ZeroPay has steadily grown with government support, becoming the market leader in QR Code payments.

ICB, headquarter in Seoul, is a fintech company specializing in mobile and cross border payment solutions. It has collaborated with multiple global financial institutions to integrate diverse payment services into South Korea, supporting international players in launching their services within the country.

Kenneth Yu, General manager of PXPay Plus, states that “Launching our services in South Korea marks another milestone after Japan. This is significant not only because of the global popularity of K-drama and KPOP, but also because of its well-known culture for cosmetics, cuisine, and fashion. etc. The country shows great potential of being the 3rd most loved destinations for Taiwanese.” As the first Taiwanese e-wallet to enter South Korea, PXPay Plus, in collaboration with its Korean and Taiwanese partners, is set to achieve the new milestone in the cross-border payments market.
